2 Chronicles 30:2–5, 17–20 For the king and his officials and the whole assembly in Jerusalem had decided to keep the Passover in the second month, / since they had been unable to observe it at the regular time, because not enough priests had consecrated themselves and the people had not been gathered in Jerusalem. / This proposal pleased the king and the whole assembly.
Matthew 12:3, 4 Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? / He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.
