Exodus 22:29 You must not hold back offerings from your granaries or vats. You are to give Me the firstborn of your sons.
Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
Ezekiel 11:2, 3 And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked counsel in this city. / They are saying, ‘Is not the time near to build houses? The city is the cooking pot, and we are the meat.’
Ezekiel 12:22, 27, 28 “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by, and every vision fails’? / “Son of man, take note that the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many years from now; he prophesies about the distant future.’ / Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘None of My words will be delayed any longer. The message I speak will be fulfilled, declares the Lord GOD.’”
Matthew 8:21 Another of His disciples requested, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
Matthew 24:48–51 But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’ / And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. / The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate.
Matthew 25:2–13 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. / The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take along any extra oil. / But the wise ones took oil in flasks along with their lamps.
Luke 9:59–62 Then He said to another man, “Follow Me.” The man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” / But Jesus told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You, however, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” / Still another said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to my family.”
Acts 24:25 As Paul expounded on righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “You may go for now. When I find the time, I will call for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:2, 3 For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. / While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
Hebrews 3:7–19 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice, / do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness, / where your fathers tested and tried Me, and for forty years saw My works.
Hebrews 4:1–7 Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it. / For we also received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, since they did not share the faith of those who comprehended it. / Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world.
