the Day of Atonement: Atonement Made On for the Whole Congregation

Leviticus 16:17, 24 No one may be in the Tent of Meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he leaves, after he has made atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel. / He is to bathe himself with water in a holy place and put on his own clothes. Then he must go out and sacrifice his burnt offering and the people’s burnt offering to make atonement for himself and for the people.
Leviticus 23:28 On this day you are not to do any work, for it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God.
Hebrews 9:7 But only the high priest entered the second room, and then only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
